Working in the world of Social Work can be many things; educating, adventurous, and at times emotional fulfilling and or draining. Every person brings their own contributions as well as their own strategies and problem solving techniques that are set by the social work guidelines. Getting into the world of social work can be intimidating, stressful and many questions are often internally asked. As an aspiring social worker I have had the opportunity to meet up with Tracey Hodgins; a micro social worker who has been in the industry for 15 years, and has had a Bachelor of Social Work Degree for 13 years. She is the mother of a friend of mine who agreed to let me interview her. Currently she is Adult probation officer; she deals with managing†¦show more content†¦She has worked at Edwards Society, helping clients with mental health. She has been in the income assistance fields, adult corrections, as well as youth probations. She was the coordinator of Partnership of Promoting V iolent Free Communities and Educating against Violence. She worked in Denholm House; which is a group home for teenage girls. Some of the mentioned fields do in a sense fall under the same category but some are completely different tasks, I wondered if it is common to have that much experience. Tracey was smart in her work journey and mentioned that she â€Å"got a job before I was done my practicum and was working three different places at once when I graduated.† She then kept her seniority at Denholm but quit everywhere else. Now since she has practise in both young and adult offender, Social Services will let her switch between those career paths but if a worker wants to switch completely just for the thrill of it, Social Services would deny them unless it was beneficial for the company. We had learnt in class that there were public and private agencies of social work. Tracey was lucky to have experience at both, but her area of social work that she admitted to being her m ost enjoyable was within the Ministry of Justice. She enjoys the fast pace lifestyle within the work days. Sitting

Part 2 According to Slater (2010), the accepted approaches of the government, this has improved the wellbeing and health of the indigenous in Australia. As per the study, the indigenous worldviews and social structures had aimed in socioeconomic equality, which ignored the colonial history, socio-cultural distinctiveness, and diversity in the indigenous situation. Affairs of the native will be looking solution of the mainstream which will deeply establish the issues of non-mainstream. After doing that, an assumption is made related to the wellbeing of Indigenous, criteria of good life shared with the Australian mainstream. The concept of the Close Gap Campaign answers the assumptions of the study clearly. In this article, there has been an investigation of the contemporary performance among the Indigenous done with the help of two indigenous lenses of cultural festivals which are cultural festival and Lara Dance of Cape York and from Southeast Queensland the dreaming festival. Indigenous companies, individuals, and communities will be running through cultural diversity Festivals. To minimize the extent vehicles for economic improvement needs to do among the children and families of the Aborigines. Whenever the people were asked the worth of the festivals, the researcher received a similar response: to share, celebrate and majorly to maintain culture. The festivals are nothing but to sustain in the indigenous world. The act of understanding and defining the effect of the health and wellbeing will be followed by reaching and implementation it causes. Alike, definition of dominant can be analyzed by obser ving the health of people. Therefore social, cultural and historical variation will be producing a difference for remaining healthy, criteria of the real life and capable person (Slater 2010). Improvement in the medical science will be advantageous for all. All these points are based on the ideology of the western concept. While giving priority to social health upon individual health, the people are getting preoccupied in the environment they are living. Furthermore, it has been assumed that desire for shared understanding and primacy in specific health is taking precedence over good interest, spiritual or cultural. This is the only way defining as well as discriminating health with wellbeing. According to the researcher, it has been observed that person should not be known through monadic individual, but through the method of constituting the social relations. Thus, a relationship among people, affirmations, and ongoing reconstitution will be making life worth living. From the over all review of the article, it has been observed that health and wellbeing have been analyzed for acknowledging the strong sense for prerequisite in mental health. There are few opportunities for asserting the importance of cultural health and recognizing the vital element in the well-being of indigenous (Slater 2010). Part 3 According to Woods (1879), history does not mention the origin of the aboriginal people in Australia for over 50000 years. The land which was explained by Captain James Cook is referred to as terra nullius which belongs to Aboriginal peoples for an extended period. In the Australian history, the White View' is the exploration, settlement, expansion, growth, and federation, whereas the Black View' is among the resistance, diseases, destruction, invasion, and death. On the overall basis, by putting a close view on the Aboriginal Society particular ideas prevail, which are given as follows: For increasing interaction among the Aboriginal people and new colony, Governor Phillip had ordered for taking hostage to some of them and then bringing them to live in the settlement of Port Jackson. It was also believed that Aboriginal people should be brought close to the European culture, this will help in bringing the thinking of acceptance. It was further believed that indigenous populations were comparatively more educated than savages. Colebee and Bennelong were the great groups of an Indigenous group. Another concept of the Aboriginal society was that of their culture includes living in harmony with the land. Spiritual belief and customs were by the creating Dreamtime' and on the formation of land (Woods 1879). The aboriginal people viewed land in a spiritual way. Whereas, the European saw the property regarding money. The relationship Aboriginal was having with the ground was totally out of imagination for the white men. The new ideas related to the living of Aboriginal people, the Europeans brought a deadly disease. Before the arrival of the first fleet, there were some unknown diseases introduced by the settlers. The indigenous population did not have any natural immunity to fight with smallpox. It is impossible to know the position of the indigenous people of Australia before the settlers were coming to this island, but it is estimated to be among 3,00,000 to 1 million. In 1901, the number of Federation had decreased to 20000. Since then, some people recognized as Aboriginal was growing at an instant. Aboriginal community has increased its birth rate among the entire groups in Australia. The above effect had given rise to the tremendous change in the culture of Australia (Woods 1879). Aboriginal was the unique group who had brought many shifts in the context of culture and religion. Aboriginal Group's habit was an even different from other. Aboriginal are having a skill of making fire, just by rubbing two sticks together. These qualities have been gradually eliminated from the society due to globalization and advancement. Movie Review The Name of the Rose by Jean-Jacques Annaud Essay Example

Movie Review: The Name of the Rose by Jean-Jacques Annaud Essay The movie The Name of the Rose was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and released in the year 1986. It is based on a book of the same title by Umberto Eco. The film is co-produced by Bernd Eichinger, Franco Cristaldi and others; and its screenplay is handled by the quartet of Andrew Birkin, Gerard Brach, Howard Franklin and Alain Godard. The music is handled by James Hornner. Produced with a budget of $17 millions, the film grossed four times this amount. Set in Medieval Europe, this murder mystery revolves around the character of Willam of Baskerville, played by Sean Connery. The storyline spans events during the course of one week in 14th Century Northern Italy. In the wake of a mysterious death at the Benedictine Abbey, the Franciscan monk William of Baskerville and his aide Adso of Melk arrive at the scene to conduct investigations. The body of the young illuminator Adelmo was found under a tower window which is sealed permanently. While speculations circulate about the death being an act of the Devil, William infers that it was not murder but a suicide. The next day, the Greek translator Venantius is found dead near his library, lying suspended in a vat of pig’s blood. Upon investigations within the library and clues gathered therein, William and Adso have an audience with the Abbott an inform him of their deductions. The chief suspect for these deaths, William asserts, is the library assistant Berenger. But there is more to the mystery than the series of deaths, for further probes inside the library unravel great hidden secrets that could embarrass and topple Christian authority over the masses. The intrigue and the suspense intensifies as further evidences and events unfold, leading to a gripping climax and ending. It is suggested by William early into his investigation that notes and translation to the Greek version of a book is found on the desk of Venantius. And later during the investigations of the library, he discovers invaluable collections of ancient wisdom, including such Greek luminaries as Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, etc. The Abbott and the institution of Church would not be pleased upon learning of this discovery, for this ancient wisdom is more sophisticated than what is found in the Holy Bible. More importantly, that such wisdom could emanate from Pagan worshippers such as the ancient Greeks would undermine the authority of Christian theologians in Medieval Europe. Considering all these potential threats to their power and privilege, the presence of these books in the hidden library has been kept a tightly held secret. And attempts to crack open its access points are what sets up the cen tral plot of the story. Hence, the books and the secret library containing them are central to the narrative. The message to be gathered from this story is rather discouraging. Authority figures usually tend to act brutally and ruthlessly in suppressing dissenting voices and views. And this was the case in The Name of the Rose too, where the content of Aristotle’s book on Poetics is seen as potentially subversive to Christian authority and hence secretly guarded from mass access. And most the deaths and chaos occurring in the movie is directly attributable to this virulent tendency of authoritative institutions. More depressingly, it suggests that those expressing alternative viewpoints and beliefs can be subject to dire consequences. Pan-European revolutions of 1830 manifested in different forms in different regions. In Netherlands and France they took a romantic hue, whereas in Poland and Switzerland the impact on the political establishment was less pronounced. In the United Kingdom of Netherlands and in France, the impact of the revolution was to establish constitutional monarchies (also called commonly as ‘popular monarchies’). This meant that the older aristocratic order was dismantled and republicanism was given a new thrust. For example, prior to the revolution, the king held dominion over his country through the mandate of God. His reference as the King of France testified this fact. But after the revolution, his title was changed to King of the French, indicating how his authority is derived from the collective will of the citizens. Likewise, in Belgium, King Leopold I took to the throne under the reconfigured political arrangement. At the same time in Congress Poland the revolt against the .
